Fickling Lecture on Developments in Children’s Literature with Baroness Floella Benjamin: Facing adversity with a smile

Children’s campaigner, author and actress Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE will be speaking about her memoir, Coming to England (1995), which traces her childhood journey from Trinidad to London with her family and explores themes of identity and belonging.

This INSIGHTS annual public lecture is sponsored by David Fickling Books and hosted by Newcastle University’s School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics, in partnership with Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children’s Books. The lecture is part of Freedom City 2017.
