This research explores the potential of a counterurbanisation trend in the context of the current economic crisis in Greece and highlights its implications, such as the colonization of the countryside by middle-class residents. Empirically, the research draws on data from a household survey, including a choice experiment, which investigates willingness to relocate in rural localities as well as motivations, obstacles and residential preferences associated with this choice.
