DE-LIGHT Project featured in EC publications

The European Commission has published a flyer about the lightweight cab as an example of a transport success story.

The flyer describes the results of the EU funded research project DE-LIGHT and draws comparisons with the application of novel composites in Formula 1 - but at a much lower unit cost.

EU Research

An article entitled "Training and research developing a new range of materials for transport" has been published in the journal EU Research.

Written by NewRail's Roberto Palacin, it reports on the MOMENTUM project's research into innovative composite materials which promise to minimise weight and maximise strength.

MOMENTUM is a Marie Curie Research Training Network on “Multidisciplinary Research and Training on Composite Materials Applications in Transport Modes”. The international consortium, led by NewRail, aimed to establish an effective and sustainable research platform for the study and development of innovative composite materials applications for the rail, aerospace, maritime and automotive transport modes.

A special issue of the international journal Plastics, Rubber and Composites features the research of NewRail

Plastics, Rubber and Composites - Macromolecular Engineering is an international journal and its latest edition features the research of NewRail and CCME - the Centre for Composite Materials Engineering.

Six articles written by research staff at NewRail under the direction of Professor Geoff Gibson cover subjects such as Numerical Simulation of Bending and Long Term Creep and Stress Rupture of Aramid Fibre.
