FEHRL is the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories – an international association comprising over 30 national research and technical institutes from across Europe.
Associates from non-European countries provide FEHRL with strong links to the considerable research capacity available globally.
The FEHRL Infrastructure Meeting ‘FIRM’ is held every 2 years and FIRM 17, open to all transport modes, gathered around 100 transport infrastructure innovation and research experts, including policy makers, SMEs, standards agencies, and the media.
The overall theme of the event was "The future transport system: a public-private enterprise embracing infrastructure and vehicles across all modes" and NewRail’s Director, Prof Mark Robinson, presented in Session 2: Strategy view – the need to go beyond the borders of the transport modes.
Mark spoke about SETRIS - the project to deliver a cohesive and coordinated approach to research and innovation strategies for all transport modes in Europe.
