Daysh Building

The Newcastle Institute for the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (NIASSH) promotes and supports interdisciplinary research in the arts, humanities and social sciences at Newcastle University. It does so by:

  • acting as a focus for intellectual and cultural debate in the University
  • working with staff to make their existing creative and research activities more visible across and beyond the University
  • initiating interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects
  • seeking funding opportunities, helping staff with applications, and influencing funding agendas in the University, region and nation
  • funding a Visiting Fellowship programme

Weekly Diary – each week NIASSH circulates to academic staff and postgraduate students an email diary of forthcoming research seminars and other events organised by Schools, centres and groups.

NIASSH Supported Events – the institute provides administrative support, financial assistance and publicity for interdisciplinary conferences and workshops that are proposed by Faculty Research Groups or individual members of staff, and which involve members of staff from more than one School.
