The Beehive, Newcastle University
24-25 August 2009
Those requiring accommodation have the option of either staying in Castle Leazes Halls of Residence, which can be booked through the booking form, or making their own arrangements (see below). Castle Leazes is part of the University, and is situated in a quiet, rural location within walking distance from the conference venue; it provides basic student accommodation (single rooms with wash basin) with shared facilities (students will be away over the summer). The cost of staying in Castle Leazes is £25 Bed & Breakfast p.p.p.n.
If you would like to stay in Castle Leazes, please choose one of the ‘I require accommodation’ options on the online booking form.
If you prefer to stay in hotel accommodation, there is a wide range of hotels on offer (see e.g. http://www.s-h-systems.co.uk/newcastl.html or http://www.newcastlegateshead.com/accommodationSearch.php?
Please note that booking and payment are your own responsibility. Most hotels are well connected to the University by public transport (bus, metro).
Beyond the promotional literature found on each hotel’s website, we thought that you might find the following information useful in making your decision.
Express by Holiday Inn, Newcastle City Centre.
In the heart of the city centre. It’s a five minute walk from the railway mainline and metro stations. It’s a twenty minutes easy walk to the conference location (alternatively, it is two short stops on the metro).
Premier Travel Inn, Newcastle City Centre, New Bridge Street.
Again, a standard hotel in the heart of the city centre. Its main advantage is that it is the closest accommodation to the conference location (a ten minutes easy walk).
Swallow Imperial Hotel
This small, friendly hotel is on the outskirts of the city centre in the pleasant district of Jesmond. It is very close to the Jesmond metro station and is only one stop from the conference location.
Caledonian Hotel

Premier Apartments
An unusual choice, but it could work out to be quite economical. You can choose apartments with one bedroom or two bedrooms. All apartments are of a high standard and have kitchen facilities and might be a good option for a family or small group of delegates.
