The Approaches to Ancient Medicine conference provides a multi-disciplinary international forum for scholarly exchange in the ever growing field of ancient medicine. The 2005 meeting is part of the very successful series of meetings that was initiated in Newcastle in 2000 and continued on an annual/biennial basis in co-operation with Prof. Helen King at Reading University.
The dates of the 2005 conference are chosen so as to allow participants to combine this conference with the XIIth International Hippocrates Colloquium at Leiden University on 24-27 August 2005 (for travel suggestions see getting here).
This conference is supported by the Wellcome Trust, the Classical Association and the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne School of Historical Studies.
