Workshop - Arden Theatre Company

Saturday 3rd September 2005, 9.30-11.00am, Bedson Teaching Centre G35

The Arden Theatre Company is the only youth theatre company in the area which is totally run and managed by young people. Set up in 2001 and based at Arc, in Stockton-on-Tees, the company has produced two full-length Shakespeare productions, aiming at bringing out the excitement, truth and drama in the plays. Both productions to date - Julius Caesar, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream - have garnered rave reviews from the press, and the company is currently in rehearsal for their new production of The Taming of the Shrew.

Members of the company will discuss Julius Caesar and A Midsummer Night’s Dream , and use their current production as a touchstone for exploring their own approach and relationship to Shakespeare.

“To have the audience roaring with perfectly genuine laughter and spontaneously applauding individual scenes is no mean feat. This is an exceptional group.”
Peter Lathan, The British Theatre Guide, on Arden’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream
