Science Media Fellowship Experience

This year, Victoria Forster a postdoctoral RA in the NICR,  was successful in gaining a place on a media fellowship given by the British Science Association (BSA), funded by the Wellcome Trust.  The aim of the scheme is to bridge the gap between science journalists and scientists, and give each an understanding of how the other works. Ten candidates are selected each year from all scientific disciplines, PhD students to Professors and here is Victoria's account of her experience on this successful scheme.

INSTINCT - groundbreaking research project aimed at beating childhood brain tumours

The Newcastle University team, based at the Northern Institute for Cancer Research, will use cutting-edge screening techniques to identify critical genetic and biochemical features of aggressive brain tumours in young patients.
