A major training base for the next generation of cancer researchers.
Our postgraduate students are registered in the NICR (biomedicine students) and the School of Chemistry (medicinal chemistry students).
We have a thriving postgraduate community of about 90 students, encompassing students from clinical and non-clinical disciplines.
Postgraduate Taught Degrees
There are a number of taught postgraduate courses available which include Cancer Research:

The Institute also hosts the research projects of around 20 Masters students every year. Students are registered on the following:
Students registered on the MRes Cancer Programme are offered a number of Masters Students Awards.
The Institute also offers around 15 PhD studentships every year, including:
- the Newcastle Cancer Centre training programme (3-4 PhD studentships and 1 clinical fellowship per year)
- the CR-UK Medicinal Chemistry Studentship Training Scheme (2 PhD Studentships per year)
- the CANCURE EC Marie Curie Early Stage Training Programme
