Volunteer Placements

Scientists

The Northern Institute for Cancer Research is able to offer a small number of volunteer 'research experience' placements for undergraduate students during the summer vacation, and occasionally at other times of the year.

To apply please identify the principal investigator whose work interests you and contact them directly via their academic e-mail address.

Please include a short curriculum vitae (CV) detailing your academic qualifications, including those obtained on your current course, and your availability over the summer period. The CV should also include a brief description of your particular interest in cancer biology, your career aspirations and how you would benefit from a research placement in the Northern Institute for Cancer Research. The offer of a research placement is at the discretion of the principal investigator and applicants are advised to include a short paragraph indicating why they are particularly interested in the work of a particular principal investigator.

Funding for summer research placements is available from several sources:

Information on how to apply for these and other schemes is typically posted during November and December for fellowships taken up the following summer.

Please Note: due to health and safety restrictions we are not able to offer hands-on research experience to school students aged under 18 years of age.
