How does someone get from the quaint street of Leazes Terrace, in Newcastle, to LA?

Music producer and manager, Terry Ellis, is a man with an interesting story to tell that will get your feet tapping along with his rock and roll past.

A Newcastle University alumnus, Terry was co-founder of Chrysalis Music, working with rock music royalty: Led Zeppelin; Jethro Tull; Jeff Beck; Roxy Music; Blondie; Huey Lewis and the News, to David Bowie.

Terry will visit the Business School this October as part of two music events being held on the same day, and will take part in a guest lecture called ‘From Leazes Terrace to Los Angeles,’ chronicling his story in the world of music.

Soon to return to his university rootswhere he studied a BSc (General) with Honours in Pure Science, Terry was once Social Secretary at Newcastle seeing him bring in pop groups to the University’s Union.

Following his graduation he started a booking agency in partnership with Mike Jeffery, a Newcastle club owner, who managed The Animals and Jimi Hendrix.  The rest as, they say, is history.

By the 70s he and the co-founder of Chrysalis Music – Chris Wright – had established themselves as one of the most influential music producers of their time.

Come along to this free event to hear Terry’s story that will take you from Newcastle to California.
