The Business School hosted a special event at St James’ Park on 8th December to celebrate the success of the latest graduates from BA (Hons) Business Accounting and Finance and present awards to the stage 4 prize-winners.

The programme is offered jointly by Newcastle University Business School, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). The first of its kind in the UK, the programme provides an accelerated route to qualifying as a chartered accountant.

This year saw the fourth cohort of students graduate from the programme and almost all of the graduates have now begun their careers with PwC, either in the Newcastle office or in other offices around the UK.  The students can expect to qualify as Chartered Accountants in the next twelve months.

Rob Jones, Director of Undergraduate Studies for NUBS said:

"The Business School is delighted to see another year group of talented students graduate from this degree programme.  In spite of the current recession this degree continues to have an outstanding record for graduate employment.  We are also thrilled to see the success of past graduates from this programme as they develop their careers in accountancy, regionally, nationally and internationally."

The programme can help advance students’ careers. Recent graduates have enjoyed secondments in places as far afield as the Caymen Islands, Australia and Canada and moves to other lines of service such as Business Recovery, Corporate Finance and Taxation all within PwC.
