photograph Business School graduates at the heart of regional, 'award winning' company

Carsten Staehr, Suzanne Cowen and Katrina Brownless, do these names mean anything to you?

Each of them are Newcastle University Business School graduates and are playing their part in leading, shaping and developing a successful, regionally based HR and Payroll Services company and their efforts are visible for all to see because Cintra, is yet again, in the news for more 'award winning' success!

The company are currently celerbrating their recent achievement of winning 'The Culture for Success Award', which was created to applaud the expertise, talent and passion of the region. This year's event saw a record number of entries making the achievement even more impressive.

Applicants for the prestigious award are required to demonstrate how they have inspired a 'Culture for Success' over the past twelve months and show evidence of how the organisation has developed a culture that fosters success in all areas of the company.

Entrants are judged against four key areas: staff development; customer service; business growth; and contribution to the region, and judged in categories according to the number of employees.

Carsten Staehr, Cintra's Chief Executive Officer and Business School's; Executive MBA graduate and Chairman of the North East Business School Alumni Branch commented on the company's achievement:

"As our customers are at the heart of everything we do, the right culture is a key element in delivering the type of customer service that will not only meet, but will exceed the expectations of even the most demanding and discerning of clients. The commitment to continuous development of our people and meeting the expectations of our customers has obviously paid dividends and we are all delighted that Cintra HR & Payroll Services has picked up this prestigious award."

Cintra HR & Payroll Services, winner of the Medium Employer Category, was described by judges as 'a real gem'. Judges comments about Cintra were met with delight by Carsten and colleagues:

"This HR and payroll company, tucked away at the top of Gateshead High Street is responsible for processing the pay slips of more than 160,000 people per month and their bureau team process more that £1.2 billion worth of BACS payment per year. The judge's initial impression at their visit was a relaxed environment - they discovered however that this belies an ambition, incredible work ethic and a commitment to the provision of an astonishing level of customer service. The company has ambitious growth plans and has invested in the development of cutting edge payroll and HR software."

Suzanne Cowen, Operations Director at Cintra and Executive MBA graduate is considered an integral part of this award winning company and has been instrumental in this company's recent success, she said:

"I am so proud to work for an organisation which, despite our current economic climate, manages to grow and continually succeed. This is a reflection on the attitude and involvement of staff in all areas of the business and the culture we promote. Winning this award corroborates our intention of building a successful company around a culture steeped in excelling in customer service and staff development. Cintra is a fantastic place to work!"

Katrina Brownless, Cintra's brand new Marketing Manager and BSc (Hons) Marketing graduate is already loving her new job and working environment and is currently learning all about Cintra's impressive operating history and achievements, she said:

"I love working here, everyone is so friendly, will drop things at a moments notice to help you and the culture is relaxed. It allows the opportunity for creative freedom and therefore, in my opinion, greater chance for success".

Carsten, Suzanne and Katrina are all also involved in the activities of the Business School's North East Alumni Branch, a network for regionally based graduates, setup to assist graduates to make valuable business connections with the region's business people. If you are a Business School graduate yourself join the network today to access special events and networking opportunities.
