photograph Chairman of North East Alumni Branch pedaling to success for Cintra

Team Cintra once again beat all-comers to win this year’s Coast to Coast Challenge, but by an even bigger margin than last year, crossing the finishing line 4 hours ahead of last year’s winning time and 27 minutes ahead of the 2nd placed team from Dickinson Dees.

The Coast to Coast cycle race is run over 142 miles from Whitehaven in Cumbria, to Tynemouth on the North East Coast, and covers some of the North of England’s most gruelling roads and tracks, including the fearsome climb up to the 1900 foot summit of Hartside Pass.

Team Cintra were once again racing in support of COCO, the charity which supports sick and underprivileged children overseas, particularly those whose lives have been blighted by war, famine, plague and other natural disasters and we hope to beat last year’s figure of £3,200.

Cintra’s Star Performer was their own prancing horse, Lorenzo Mugnai, who attacked each hill-climb like a proverbial mountain goat, but downhill he was like a Ferrari, hitting speeds of up to 42 miles per hour using his aerodynamic style, with his team-mates in his slipstream!

Team Cintra would like to take this opportunity to extend their sincere thanks to everybody who donated money to Carsten and his team, however sponsorship lines are still open, so please make a donation to this worthwhile cause.
