NEDTC studentships in finance and economics

The North East Doctoral Training Centre (NEDTC), a joint venture between Durham and Newcastle universities, is currently looking to award a number of fully-funded ESRC studentships to high-calibre PhD students in the field of Finance and Economics.

We have internationally-recognised research strengths in a wide range of subject specialisms, including  Micro-Economic and Macro-Economic Theory; International Trade; Global Economic Performance; Health and Wellbeing; Economics of Safety; Health, Environment & Risk; Quantitative Research in Economics & Finance; Behavioural Finance & Economics; Financial Theory; Central Banking; and Financial Derivatives, Risk & Insurance.

These awards, which will commence from October 2012, provide Home, EU and International successful candidates with a maintenance grant of £16,590, full payment of their tuition fees and an annual training and travel allowance.

NEDTC is part of the ESRC's national network of accredited doctoral training centres and offers students a world-class, interdisciplinary environment for doctoral training and research. There are opportunities to work alongside leading social science researchers, and conduct training and research in collaboration with government, business and the third sector.

Interested applicants should apply to either Durham or Newcastle University and state in their application that they wish to be considered for an NEDTC studentship. The deadline for applications is Friday, 24th February 2012.
