Newcastle and Groningen - Dual Masters AwardsOn Tuesday November 17th 2009, Professor John Leopold, Deputy Director of Newcastle University Business School and Frans Zwarts, the Rector Magnificus of the University of Groningen (RUG) signed a contract, to officially mark the beginning of the new Dual Masters Awards in Advanced International Business and Management and Advanced International Business Management and Marketing, which will now be offered in partnership by the two universities.
Professor John Leopold, said: "I am delighted that this exciting new venture has now been launched. I look forward to welcoming the first students to Newcastle in January."
These unique programmes require students to undertake an intensive programme of study at both of the Universities over a period of 16 months. Upon successful completion the students will receive an award from each of the institutions.
Dr Tracy Scurry, the Degree Programme Director for the new Dual Awards, commented:
"These new programmes offer students an excellent opportunity to study at two respected European institutions whilst gaining international experiences and perspectives which will serve them well in their future careers”.
Future collaborations are planned between the University of Groningen and Newcastle University and are currently under development.
