In today’s world, a conventional MBA is not enough. Global forces are shifting at a furious pace – to be relevant, an MBA must show the individual how to filter, to interpret, and how to adapt.
Business leaders, entrepreneurs, social and political pioneers must be ambidextrous; able to innovate as well as implement. Above all, they must not be afraid to tackle complexity and, in doing so, challenge norms and embrace significant change in the world around them.
Newcastle University Business School’s MBA programmes have been redefined and re-mastered using methods of learning sufficiently challenging to enable personal and professional transformation. Participants work with cutting-edge academic concepts, delivered by some of the most innovative minds in strategic management.
We understand that reputation matters and as an Association of MBAs (AMBA) accredited School our MBA programmes are popular and highly regarded, with the quality of our teaching reflected in the high gradings awarded by the national Teaching Quality Assessment.
Careful consideration has been given to both the academic content and the delivery of our MBA programmes, to ensure they are fit for the demands of dynamic global businesses.
Our MBA programmes develop your ability to make a difference – to change the world, starting with yourself. At the outset, Participants work with the MBA Programme Director to set their own personal and professional transformation plan. Transformation is a vital success factor, and means something different to each individual. If your employer sponsors you, they may contribute via your personal development review process in consultation with the Programme Director.
As part of the programme you will tackle:
Our ‘Business in Action’ module involves responding to a variety of challenges. Real-time learning starts at induction and continues through the programme, with an emphasis on applying skills and learning from modules in complex and unexpected situations.
There will be at least one live studio session in which you will tackle a scenario brought by senior managers from a trading organisation, and get direct feedback on performance.
The management consultancy modules provide real-time experience on live projects in which students work in groups to carry out a mission for an organisation. For full-time students these will usually be in the UK and for Executive MBAs they can take place overseas. In addition, students are able to choose a practical project over a traditional dissertation, encouraging flexibility
At the forefront of cutting-edge corporate and social theories, our academics are leading research inspired by universal design and ‘design thinking’.
Originating in Japan, universal design is a principle underpinned by the idea that products and services should be inclusive rather than exclusive, and is now being applied to the study of business and communities.
You will learn directly from leading thinkers in inter-organisational relationships, particularly around the collaborative approach to dealing with strategic problems through public and private partnerships.
While our core MBA modules comprise key principles of strategic management and the global political economy – specialist modules ensure that every participant is able to choose disciplines, and even sectors, that are important to their career or the future of their organisation. These specialist modules evolve and develop over time and the latest information can be obtained by contacting the Programme Director.
For three years following graduation, all MBA participants are entitled to valuable career advice and support through our dedicated careers service.
