Undergraduate Student Board Executive Committee

President

Hayley Blyth

NAME: Hayley Blyth
HOMETOWN: Teesside

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE BOARD OF STUDENTS?
I wanted the Business School to have a name for itself, and to be part of making that happen. I enjoy organising events for fellow Business School students, and these will hopefully add to their experience of Newcastle University on both a social and educational level, which is what university life is all about.

AMBITION: I hope to qualify as an accountant, and follow on from my degree in this profession. Beyond that who knows what the future holds, anything is possible.

Vice-President

Laura Ireland

NAME: Laura Ireland
HOMETOWN: Kirkbymoorside near York

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE BOARD OF SUDENTS?
I decided to join to contribute to the Business School and have something extra to put on my CV to help me stand out. I was keen to be involved in planning the Business School Ball, and I also wanted to organise events that would bring the whole Business School together.

AMBITION: Once I graduate, I would like to get some more work experience in the accounting field and then eventually become a qualified chartered accountant. I am also considering going down the financial advisory route or perhaps into banking.

Treasurer

Juntao Zeng

NAME: Juntao Zeng
HOMETOWN: Foshan City in Southern China

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE BOARD OF STUDENTS?
New ideas are always welcomed here and the goal of creating a special student experience is shared amongst its members. Passion is never a missing element among the group of people I have worked along with.
I wanted to gain experiences that are more than just studying and working in the University.
I told myself, being a student in Newcastle University Business School, opportunities like this are not to be missed.

AMBITION: Finishing my degree in Accounting and Finance next year, I am going to return to my home country and apply for posts as an auditor. In the long term, I told myself that I will have the option to pursue forensic accounting. But who knows whether I am going to change my mind and do something even more exciting?

Secretary

Charlotte Beveridge

NAME: Charlotte Beveridge
HOMETOWN: County Durham

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE BOARD OF STUDENTS?
I joined the Board because I wanted to make a difference to the Business School and organise events to unite the student body as a community. This will be my second year as secretary for the Board as I thoroughly enjoyed being a member last year. I knew that by being a member of the Board it would help me stand out to employers.

AMBITION: When I graduate I hope to take a year out and go travelling. I have always wanted to work for a charity and I would eventually like to run my own charity helping disadvantaged children get into further education.
