VIP Programme

VIP LogoThe VIP (or Voluntary Internship Programme) is a 100 hour voluntary placement designed for students who are looking for work experience within the third sector.

Designed in partnership with Mental Health North East, the programme is open to all undergraduates (except stage 1), postgraduate and MBA students who are currently studying a business or marketing related degree.You will undertake a total of 100 hours work, which is fully flexible around your timetable, within a North East based company.

This year, we are looking for 5 motivated students to work in one of the following organisations:

  • Launchpad - an organisation which works to promote the views and opinions of those who use mental health services
  • Newcastle and Gateshead Arts Studio - an art studio provision for individuals with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities
  • The Bridge Project - an organisation which aims to increase women's confidence, self esteem and support their personal development to enable them to become more independent.
  • Home-Start Seaham - a charity offering support and friendship to local parents and carers with young children
  • Redcar and Cleveland Mind - a service for local people with mental health problems

You will be working closely with senior management on a genuine project specifically created by the organisation.

Why undertake a voluntary internship?

The VIP programme will help to develop your employability and graduate level skills, such as team working, communication, problem solving and leadership. It will also help you gain a new perspective on your local community and demonstrate that you are socially engaged and wish to use your skills to benefit society.
