We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated undergraduate students to help new international students settle into the Business School and Newcastle University as a whole.  You will work as part of a team of Mentors and will actively participate (and in some cases lead) formal sessions on a range of subjects relevant to new students; such subjects will include how to make use of the services available within the University, how to get involved in extracurricular activities etc.

The Scheme is very social in its focus and above all else aims to help new international students make the most of their time at Newcastle University.

You will be paid at a competitive rate of £6.80/hour for your services and contracted for a minimum of 23 hours spread over the first semester.   There will also be lots of opportunities during the year to increase the number of hours you work; either by getting involved in projects or recruitment activities. You will also have the opportunity to develop a number of skills which will go a long way towards enhancing your CV. 

The closing date for applications is 10am on Wednesday 9th May 2012. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted on Thursday 10th May 2012 and the interviews will take place on Wednesday 16th May 2012 and Friday 18th May 2012.

Successful applicants will attend a Training Day on Friday 23rd September and the Scheme will start in earnest with the first session on Tuesday 27th September.

Note: The scheme is open to Newcastle University Business School undergraduate students entering stages 2 and 3 in the 2010-2011 academic year in the following programmes: L100, L161, LN12, N200, N400, N500, NN52, N120.
