Support and Useful Contacts
Newcastle University Business School are keen for you to enjoy your time at university and provide a lot of support to help you settle into university life. Here are a few of the key contacts.
Degree Programme Director
The Degree Programme Director (DPD) oversees the degree and will be able to respond to any query on academic matters for your programme e.g. modules, option choice, assessment. They should also be able to advise you on how to resolve a problem if you are unsure.
It might seem a bit daunting going to see your DPD or secretary especially if you are worried that your problem might seem trivial. However, we would much rather you come and see us rather than suffer in silence.
Personal Tutor
Your Personal Tutor will be an academic who teaches Business. You may know them as a lecturer from your course or they may not be involved with your degree. They will have a general understanding of academic matters and they should be able to advise with most issues that arise. They are also there to help with any other problems you may have whilst at university and you can speak to them about personal issues or health problems that may be affecting your study. If they are not able to help, then they will endeavour to put you in touch with someone who can as soon as possible. You will be allocated a personal tutor and provided with their contact details during Welcome Week.
