Brief description of career since graduating…

Upon graduating from Newcastle University, I joined the Accounting Profession and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with one of the Big Five Accounting Firms (as it was then) where I stayed for five years. I then entered industry to further my professional experience where I stayed for 7 years, mostly in risk identification and financial reporting roles.

Your current role: What are your responsibilities, what is a typical day like, what are the highs and lows of the job?

I am now a lecturer at the Newcastle University Business School where I lecture across stages on basic to more advance financial reporting. I also lecture the Audit and Assurance module on the Business School's "Flying Start" programme. No day is typical as it can involve lecturing, writing lecture material, writing or marking exams, or progressing with my PhD.

What are your main memories of your time at the Business School?

Getting that degree that I worked so hard for!
