International Exchange Programmes

Newcastle University Business School has a number of international exchange programmes which provide opportunities for Newcastle students to study abroad and for overseas students to study at Newcastle. Exchange programmes are offered within the European Union countries (European Exchange programme) and in other parts of the world (Non-EU Exchange programme).

EU FlagEuropean Exchange Programme (ERASMUS scheme)

Erasmus is a scheme introduced by the European Commission with the aim of increasing student mobility within Europe. Students who participate in the scheme receive a small grant to help with living costs while they are studying abroad.

Since this is an exchange programme, Erasmus students do not have to pay fees to the host institution. To be eligible to participate in a Erasmus exchange, you must

  • be a citizen of one of the participating countries (EU or EEA) or a permanent resident in the UK
  • be registered at a UK institution of Higher Education
  • have not received a previous Erasmus grant

The Non-EU Exchange Programme gives undergraduate students the opportunity to spend a period of study at one of our non-European partner institutions as part of their degree programme. It also enables students from partner institutions to study at Newcastle.
