1. Our programmes

1.1. Can I have a copy of your prospectus?
You can use our online form to request a prospectus.

1.5. How long are your programmes?
Our full-time Masters programmes are 12 months in duration. Our part time programmes are 24 months in duration.

1.6. Can I study part time?
We currently offer three of our programmes on a part time basis; MA in International Financial Analysis, MA Arts, Business and Creativity, and our Executive MBA programme.

1.7. Do you offer distance learning programmes?
Currently all of the postgraduate courses at Newcastle University Business School require students to be on campus and attend classes.

1.8. When do your programmes begin?
All of our programmes start in September each year.

2. Application process

2.1. How do I apply?
You can apply online.

2.2. I can't or don't want to apply online, how do I get an application form?
We prefer you to apply online but if you do not have access to a computer, our Postgraduate Admissions Service can send you a paper application form or you can download the form and guidance notes.

2.3. What is the deadline for applications?
There is no official deadline for applications. However, our programmes are popular and we recommend you apply sooner rather than later to ensure you secure your place on your chosen programme.

2.4. What supporting documentation should I send with my application?
The main documents the University requires for postgraduate programmes are as follows:
• Degree certificates and a copy of your transcripts to confirm your degree or highest qualification;
• Evidence of your English language ability if applicable (e.g. IELTS or TOEFL);
• A research proposal for research programmes.

2.5. Is there an application fee?
No, we do not have an application fee.

2.6. Do I have to pay a deposit?
Once you have been made a formal offer for study you must to pay a non-refundable deposit of £1,500 to secure your place, alternatively the submission of a formal letter of sponsorship for your Newcastle programme can be accepted instead.

2.7. Can I apply for more than one course?
Yes, you can apply for more than one course. However, you will need to fill in more than one application form and tailor your personal statement to suit the course you are applying for.

2.8. What do my referees have to do?
Your referees will be contacted by our Postgraduate Admissions Team and be asked to complete a pro forma.

2.9. How long will it take to receive an offer letter?
Once an online application is made you will usually receive an offer within 10 working days, however, in busy periods this may take longer. If you applied online, you can track the progress of your application or you can contact the Postgraduate Admissions Service.

2.10. If I am offered a place and cannot take it up, can I hold it over to the next year?
Yes, deferred entry is possible. Please contact our Postgraduate Admissions Team for conditions of deferred entry.

3. Entry requirements

3.1. What are the entry requirements for the Business School?
Our standard entry requirements are a minimum upper second class first degree (2:1) or overseas equivalent. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no less than 6.0 in any element. Some programmes have additional entry requirements, please ensure you check the individual programme pages for specific requirements.

3.2. Can I apply before I have completed my degree or taken my IELTS test?
Yes, you can apply before you have taken your IELTS but you would be given a conditional offer and would only be allowed to register if you met the English language requirements.

3.3. Can I transfer credits from other postgraduate study I’ve completed?
The Business School does not currently accept applications for Accreditation for Prior Learning (APL) from postgraduate students in any of its existing postgraduate programmes. The only current exceptions are our Masters in Business Administration programmes which as professionally accredited have the capacity to recognise modules from other accredited business schools.

3.4. Do prospective students need to have relevant work experience?
All of our postgraduate taught programmes are pre experience and therefore although work experience is desirable it is not essential. We do offer two post experience programmes and these are the MBA and Executive MBA programmes.

7. Visit us

7.1. Do you hold Open Days so I could visit the Business School to find out firsthand about your programmes?
Yes, the University holds Open Days throughout the year. International students are welcome to visit us throughout the year. Our International Office will be able to arrange individual or small group visits for you. Please e-mail the International Office at least three weeks before your arrival, so we have the best chance to arrange a visit for you.
