English Language Requirements and Support

In the Business School we require all our students to have a good English language ability. If English is not your first language you will need to demonstrate English ability at IELTS 6.5 (TOEFL 577; IBTOEFL 90) or higher.

If you do not meet these requirements, but have achieved an IELTS of 6.0 (TOEFL 550; IBTOEFL 79), you may be considered for our 10 week pre-sessional English language course (a fee is payable). In many cases an offer of a place is normally be subject to your achieving IELTS 6.5 or attending the Pre- Sessional English programmes.

If you have a conditional offer on IELTS 6.5 and will take the IELTS test soon, we can issue an unconditional offer as soon as you send us your original copy of the English test result to our Graduate School.

Support during your programme of study in specific areas such as dissertation writing is also available. We ensure that non-native English speakers are prepared for the requirements of their course and are able to derive the maximum benefit from it. We are very conscious that students without the necessary competence in English would be working at a disadvantage, and would be in danger of failing the course.
