Aims

1. to introduce the characteristics and trends which distinguish the creative industries from other industries/ technological clusters, with reference to the enterprising management and organisation of innovation and creativity
2. to enable students to critically evaluate current research and scholarship relevant to Creative industries and to understanding the parameters for aplly their knowledge, skills and understanding in original ways.

Original Summary:
This is a practically based module which provides a themed industrial context (the creative industries) within which to apply Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise theory and knowledge. In order to carry out the various practical tasks students will be required to apply specific knowledge relating to creative industries (e.g publishing, visual arts, music).

Outline Of Syllabus

6X3 hour sessions

1.       Introduction to the practical project and group for the module

2.       Introductory lecture on creative industries; creators' intellectual property rights; project planning - tutorial, discussion and groupwork

3.       Guest speaker; Reading exercise; Project planning work and team exercise

4.       Company visit

5.       Presentation skills workshop; Group project tutorials; Mini progress update from each project team

6.       Group presentations
