This programme is aimed at new and recent graduates from the UK and overseas who are interested in a career in accountancy and are looking to improve their employment prospects.  The programme has been developed in close collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). As a result, successful completion of the programme will lead to the award of two related qualifications:

  • Graduate Diploma from Newcastle University and;
  • Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business from the ICAEW (CFAB)

The programme has been designed to enhance the personal and professional skills of students, thereby assisting them in developing their technical and academic skills while earning credit for 7 of the 15 professional papers required to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.
We are delighted that:

  • 100% of the 2011 intake graduated with professional examination credits; and
  • 86% secured the offer of a graduate training contract with a professional firm.

The programme also includes a bespoke skills development module, development module, developed with input from the ICAEW and professional accountancy firms which supplements the other modules and will raise students’ awareness of the skills and abilities required to be successful in their future careers.

Who is the programme for?

This innovative post-graduate programme is specifically aimed at new and recent graduates from the UK and overseas.  We are looking for self-motivated and career minded students who wish to gain the additional knowledge and skills required to be successful as accounting and finance professionals.  However, just as there is no requirement for new entrants to the accountancy profession to have studied business or accounting before, so there is no requirement for students on this programme to have studied business or accounting before.
