Programme description

Increased travel opportunities, new and evolving communication technologies and a lowering of many trade barriers have made the world much more interconnected, and brought new and rapidly changing opportunities and challenges for today’s increasingly globalized businesses.

The MA in International Business Management has been created in response to the growing internationalisation of business and management practice and provides an advanced introduction to the topic. It celebrates the diversity of living and working across cultures and focuses on the skills, competences and knowledge necessary for individuals working within today’s global business environment.

Who is the programme for?

This programme is suited to those looking to study a broad business based degree with an international focus, and for those interested in developing a career within business management in areas such as management consultancy, marketing, financial management and human resource management.Taking part in lecture discussions

Professional skill development

On a professional level, students will develop:

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of how to improve the quality of management, leadership and practice in organisations;
  • Applied skills in problem solving, critical thinking and analysis;
  • A self-managed approach to learning and the ability to work independently; and
  • The acquisition of relevant professional attributes (ethical practice, confidentiality, etc).

Programme structure

The programme is modular in structure, comprising 180 credits, which are studied on a full-time basis. It offers two specialist strands and you will be asked to select one of these when you join the programme.

All students will take the following compulsory modules (160 credits):

Depending on the chosen stream, students will take a further 20 credits from the following:

Stream A

NBS8052 International Marketing (10 credits)

NBS8111 International Entrepreneurship (10 credits)

Stream B

NBS8073 Business in China (10 credits)

NBS8136 Work and Employment in Latin America (10 credits)

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to hold a minimum upper-second class honours degree or international equivalent.

Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no less than 6.0 in any element.Pre-sessional courses in English language are provided by the University and successful completion of these may be a condition of entry.
