The MA in International Human Resource Management has been designed in response to demand for a specialist Master's programme that addresses the issues involved in the management of people across international borders. The programme builds on our highly successful MA in Human Resource Management, which focuses more specifically on the domestic marketplace.
The programme has been recently updated following a comprehensive review and is fully accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Successful completion of the programme leads to graduate membership of this prestigious institute. The MA IHRM also aligns with the standards of the US-based Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) – the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management.The MA IHRM is aimed at graduates from any discipline who want to learn about the management of people in international businesses and who wish to pursue an international management career working transnationally as opposed to working within a single country.
Graduates from the programme will be able to follow a wide range of business management careers in global corporations, trans-European companies, management consultancy and management education and training.
Candidates are encouraged to develop the critical self-analysis and personal skills that underpin future career development and support the process of lifelong learning. The emphasis on skill development also helps candidates to meet the professional development requirements of the CIPD.

The programme is modular in structure, compromising 180 credits, which are studied on a full-time basis over 12 months. All candidates will take the following compulsory modules.
Work begins on your dissertation at the start of semester 2. Dissertations are completed by the beginning of September.
We allow you as much flexibility as possible when choosing your dissertation topic in line with the requirements of the programme. This ensures you are able to study an area of human resource management which is of interest to you.
Candidates are required to hold a minimum upper second class first degree (2:1) or overseas equivalent. Every application is considered on an individual basis and candidates who narrowly miss the academic entry criteria may be eligible for admission at the discretion of the selector.
Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no less than 6.0 in any element. Pre-sessional courses in English language are provided by the University and successful completion of these may be a condition of entry.
