Chris is a Senior Lecturer in Mangement. Before coming to the Business School as a Lecturer in 1999 he was a Research Associate in the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies, also at Newcastle University, and prior to that he was a research associate at CROMTEC, at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).
Chris is the Degree Programme Director for the Postgraduate course Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship programme www.ncl.ac.uk/nubs/postgrad/taught/icem/index.htm and is responsible for the school's PG service teaching.
PhD and MSc from PREST (Policy Research into Engineering Science and Technology), part of Manchester University.
Chris is a member of the British Academy of Management and the European Academy of Management.
Chris is an Advanced Institute of Management (AIM) Scholar.
Invited to review for the ESRC and for a wide range of high profile journals including: British Journal of Management; Long Range Planning; R&D Management; International Journal of Operations and Production Management; Human Resources; International Journal of Information Technology and Management; Information Technology and People, International Journal of Technology Management; Construction Management and Economics and Science Policy. Reviewer for EURAM Project Management track.
Chris's research interests include: innovation studies, critical approaches to project management and research into the management of complex projects. Chris also has interests, through his research as an AIM scholar, in the management of business schools in the UK.
Chris is currently examining the way in which organisations construct and understand their own office space requirements.
Chris is involved in writing grant applications to explore the management of 'the user' in the innovation and design process and career and identitity management amongst project managers.
Chris's work has been adopted by project managers and institutions involved in project management training and professional support. Chris's work on business school strategy has contributed to debates around the future of UK business schools and has become a 'must read' for business school deans.
