My main research interests are in the area of careers from the perspectives of the individual and the organisation. Work to date has focused on graduate careers, in particular ‘non-traditional’ graduate employment, and the consequences that this has for individuals, organisations and societies. I have recently completed a British Academy funded project exploring undergraduate future career expectations, career management and notions of career success. Current work focuses on fast stream participants in the civil service, identity narratives of global workers and low carbon careers.
I have also worked with a number of public sector organisations evaluating the processes and impact of organisational change related to the implementation of flexible working practices and work life balance initiatives. Work to date has adopted a multi-stakeholder perspective, examining both the organisational and individual implications of the practices for all those involved.
