This module aims to enable students to develop a constructive approach to the identification and development of personal, professional and key skills to improve and enhance their personal effectiveness as learners and throughout their careers.

Skills Audit/Learning Styles. Employability Skills. Essay and Report Writing. Time Management. Teamwork. Presentation Skills. Project Management. Working with Numbers. Revision and Exam Techniques. Improving Own Learning and Performance. Computer Literacy: Using the Web/Concepts, - MS Word, - Excel, - Power Point, - Access.
By the end of this module participants will have the knowledge and understanding of the resources, opportunities and support required in respect of personal and professional development. They will know and understand their own development needs and learning styles and be able to record and review their development experiences, and reflect on the process overall.
Participants will be enabled to develop a range of skills including:
Study Skills - essay and report writing, reading skills, note taking, revision and exam preparation, etc.
Key Skills - communication, IT, working with others, improving own learning and performance, etc
Professional Skills - contributing to and leading meetings, networking, generating business ideas etc.
Relevant theory will be introduced during the lectures and a range of skills will be practiced and developed through individual and group activities. Further depth of skill development will be achieved through the private study of appropriate learning materials and individual practice of relevant skills. Participants will develop their own individual plan of learning for this module giving priority to the skills required for their own personal and professional development.
