Aims

To develop an understanding of the management of people in organisations.

Original Summary:
The module gives a broad introduction to the issues and problems involved in managing people in organisations in the public and private sectors and in domestic and international organisations. The module considers these issues from theoretical and practical perspectives using a combination of lectures, directed reading and case studies.

Case studies provide opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of both the theory and practice of human resource management. The examination is designed to assess both students' breadth of knowledge and understanding of Human Resource Management and critical application of knowledge to specific subject areas.

Semester One Erasmus and Loyola Exchange students may, with the approval of the module leader, submit two 1,500 word essays. These essays are to replace the formal examination requirement.
