To enable students to become aware of the macro-economic and institutional forces influencing the development and regulation of the global economy.
Original Summary:
This module examines the macro-economic and political forces that influence the development and functioning of the global business environment. Of particular interest is the formation and development of international regimes such as those governing multilateral trade, regional integration, and global economic governance; the development international organisations and their role in regulating the global environment; strategies employed by business and not-for-profit organisations to influence the outcomes of intergovernmental agreements; trade and international labour standards; alternatives to intergovernmental regulation such as voluntary Codes of Conduct, Codes of Business Principles and their efficacy. This module offers an in-depth understanding of the complex international environment in which organisations operate.
