Why did you Choose Newcastle?

It was all about the course. Once I had heard about this course at Newcastle I couldn’t find any other course which ticked as many boxes as BAF did. The fantastic opportunities which the course presents you with are second to none. Having the opportunity to study a university degree in a fantastic city such as Newcastle accompanied by having guaranteed paid work placements with one of the big four accounting companies PwC, whilst at the same time gaining that all important fast track start to becoming a chartered accountant was something I simply couldn’t turn my back on. It wasn’t just all these advantages for my future career that pulled me towards BAF, even though it’s not your average degree, you do still retain that same amazing uni lifestyle that every prospective uni student is looking for as a result of being in one of the best university cities in the country!

Did the Open Day help?

The open day was a fantastic opportunity to find out all you could possibly want to know about the course and Newcastle University itself. The open day was so relaxed for me, I arrived full of apprehension however the moment I was greeted by the staff and student reps I felt so at ease and comfortable. The relaxed atmosphere allowed me to ask every possible question I wanted to know whilst keeping me calm and as a result allowing me to perform to the best of my ability in the assessment task and interview.

Hint/Tip for the Open Day and Assessment Centre

Keep calm and just be yourself. Even though it is an assessment day, don’t let that make you nervous, view it as your opportunity to showcase yourself and your skills, the best way to do that is enjoy everything the day throws at you whilst staying as relaxed as possible. One important point is to come prepared. Come with as many questions as possible, keep yourself up to date with the business world and prepare for possible interview questions that you think you could be ask. Most importantly stay calm and just enjoy the day!
