What really sold the course to me was how friendly and helpful the tutors and students are. The recruitment process made me see how special the course is and how it would be unwise to pass up this opportunity!

In year 1, we are placed into ‘development teams’ of five students. Each team works through various tasks and are assisted by a team mentor from the year above. The mentor acts as a support system and helps you to settle into university life. The teams and mentors create a real bond within the course and enable you to become close friends with many students in your year and the years above. During my second year, I happily became a mentor to new year 1 students.

The supportive environment extends to the placement and you are given a buddy from the University. The placement buddy is someone who has already experienced life on placement and can give plenty of advice.

As I approached the end of my university degree programme, it was amazing to think that four years had really gone past. I now truly appreciate the degree, and all of the things that I have learnt both in lectures and out on placement.  I have developed on a professional level and a personal level so much over the four years. I believe that my communication and team working skills have improved through the work completed as part of the development teams at university, and that my leadership skills have greatly improved from my experiences working on placement with PwC.

I joined PwC in late August 2009, and can’t wait for the challenges that I’ll face in the future!
