With international students there needs to be evidence that their English language skills will be sufficient to enable them to complete the programme successfully. We accept the following qualifications as evidence:
Please note that these are the minimum acceptable qualifications.
Some students may be offered as an alternative a place based on IELTS 6.0 plus successful completion of the Pre-Sessional Intensive English Language Programme, which lasts 10 weeks).
The University tests all international students who are not native speakers of English on entry for diagnostic purposes. Those who attain scores if less than 6.5 in writing and/or listening will be required to undertake further English language study during their first year. This can be in the form of credit-bearing modules, or extra classes outside of normal teaching time. English language support of this nature can help international students perform better in their academic modules.
