The University provides excellent welfare and support services, including the Counselling and Wellbeing Service, offering information, help and advice to all our students.
Support information is also available for:
When you arrive at the University you will be assigned a personal tutor as part of the the University's Personal Tutor System. Your tutor will be a member of academic staff who will be able to advise you on all academic and non-academic matters and will also be able to direct you to the relevant welfare and support service if you need guidance on any matters of a personal nature.
The relationship between a tutor and tutee is confidential. Students should be able to talk freely to their tutors as information will not generally be divulged to other colleagues or agencies without a tutee's consent.
All students who put Newcastle as their first choice are offered accommodation in one of the University Student residences for their first year. This enables everyone to meet a wide cross-section of people and make friends in other disciplines.
