photograph Hope for potential medical students who didn't make their grades

It’s a fraught time of year for those students who are awaiting their A level results.  Many will achieve the grades they need to secure their place at Medical School, however, inevitably there will be sadness for those who just miss their grades.

This year, NUMed has introduced the Newcastle University BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences programme (N/720/6/0035) and students achieving 3Bs or above at A Level are invited to apply. The Biomedical Sciences programme is one of Newcastle University’s best programmes and 95% of students are either employed within six months of finishing the programme, or move on to study higher degrees such as PhDs. It is a programme that opens doors to a wide variety of careers. It is a three year programme with the first two years being studied on our purpose-built campus in Iskandar Malaysia, and the final year is spent in the UK, where students are attached to one of Newcastle University’s world class research institutes at no additional cost. As with the MBBS programme, the degree for the Biomedical Sciences programme is conferred by Newcastle University.

A second chance

NUMed recognises that students who don’t make their grades for medical school may be reluctant to write off their desire to become a doctor.  That’s why after studying the Biomedical Sciences for one year; top students may be offered a place on NUMed’s MBBS programme.

If you would like to be considered for an offer of a place on the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences, please let us know by no later than Friday 17th August as places on this programme for the September 2013 intake are limited.
