Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia opened its enrollment for the MBBS programmes today.  The MB BS programme has been running in Malaysia since 2009 and it has already attracted excellent scholars to study at the state-of-the art campus.

Professor Jordan, Provost and CEO is delighted to be able to offer more Malaysian and International students the opportunity to study for a UK medical qualification. He commented:

"Newcastle University is a top-20 UK university with a global reputation for academic excellence, and we have been educating students from Malaysia for over 40 years.  In 2009 we established NUMed Malaysia as a fully-owned international branch campus of the University here in Johor to give more Malaysian and international students the choice of studying for the Newcastle Medicine and Surgery MB BS Honours degrees at a significantly reduced cost compared to studying the same programme at our campus in the UK.

The five-year MB BS programme (KN9561) delivered at NUMed Malaysia is equivalent to the medical programme offered at Newcastle’s UK campus, and leads to the award of the same degrees by Newcastle University UK.  By choosing to study medicine at NUMed Malaysia you will obtain a UK medical qualification, from an internationally recognized British university, right here in Malaysia. It is anticipated that on successful completion of the programme you will be eligible for provisional registration as a doctor with both the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)".

The programme in Malaysia has been approved by the MMC and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (PA9561), and NUMed Malaysia is registered as a Private Institute of Higher Learning (KPT/JPT/DFT/US/J02) by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
