Background

Vijay joined NUMed in August 2011.  His main role is to assist in delivering a comprehensive, professional HR service for NUMed Malaysia (the Company) operations based in Johor, Malaysia in order to recruit, develop and motivate high quality people, in line with operational objectives.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To deal with immigration and work requirements for locally employed staff and staff seconded from Newcastle University.

  2. To liaise with personnel from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysian Medical Association and other appropriate bodies in order to obtain permissions required for employment with the Company.

  3. Planning, and sometimes delivering, training, including inductionsfor locally employed staff and staff seconded from Newcastle University, UK.

  4. Working closely with departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures;

  5. Promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation;

  6. Recruiting staff - this includes developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates;

  7. Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures;

  8. Analysing training needs in conjunction with line managers.

  9. Process new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, leave of absence and existing employee changes related to payroll.

  10. To undertake additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
