Our objectives are to:
- serve as a representative body for the student community, run by students for students
- serve as a channel of communication between the student community and the University
- promote, advance, and advocate student welfare and to liaise with NUMed and Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB) to seek action on relevant issues
- co-operate with NUMed in allocating annual budgets to student societies on campus
- enrich student life and experience in NUMed through social and cultural activities with the support of NUMed and student societies
- provide a fair and equal-opportunity platform for students to become involved in the Student Association

My role is to chair all Council meetings and to be a leader and representative for the Council and the student body. I also co-ordinate the work of the Council members and manage the responsibilities of the team. I often have to liaise with the University management.
Christine Cheung Wai Ching
My role is to assist the President during Association meetings and to take over the leadership role in his absence. I am also involved in work co-ordination and responsibilities together with the President.
Mohd Firdaus bin Sulaiman
I am present at Council meetings to write minutes for the perusal of the committee members. I often assist with documentation within the Council, as well as correspondence with parties outside of the Council.
Pelicia Sim Xin Jie
I keep track of claims from student societies in NUMed for budget and funding, and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records on all expenses and disbursement of funds. Furthermore, I liaise with NUMed management with regards to payments and deposits, and prepare budget proposals for Student Council events. I also deal with payments for our book-ordering service.
Social Welfare Officer

My role is to bridge the gap between students from all the different programmes here at NUMed to create a cohesive, condusive, and friendly environment for study and social well-being.
Students' Affairs Officer
Khairul Amirin bin Ahmad
My role is to assist the Social Welfare officer in regards to complaints and suggestions to enhance the student experience.
Effah Faqeehah binti Masdi
I am in a position to raise any issues related to the educational aspects of the student experience at NUMed, directly with the management locally and back in Newcastle upon Tyne. I am committed to fairly representing a student’s perspective at meetings and video conferences.
Lucas Jee Kwang Hein
I am responsible for dealing with all matters pertaining to the logistics of any events organised by the Students Association, such as the PA system and transport.
Kakuru Abraham James Karegyesa
I am responsible for leading sport events for intravarsity and intervarsity students. I am the point of contact for the sport clubs and societies at NUMed.
International Students Representative
Kato Richard Joseph Karegyesa
The international students make up a vibrant part of the NUMed community, and my job is to primarily facilitate their smooth transition to not only university life but also life in Malaysia. I am also responsible for some communications within the university, through publications such as the student council monthly newsletter, 5’Past.
My role is to update and publicize to the student body regarding events and happenings in NUMed held by the Student Association as well as the clubs and societies. I am also in charge of facilitating the collaboration between the Student Association and TNT in terms of event coverage.
Koh Eve Lynn
My role is to assist the Publicity officer, as well as contribute in terms of design for all of the events held by the association.
Anishajit Ravi Buchia
My role as a FIS (Foundation in Science) representative in the Student Association is to handle issues affecting our FIS students in NUMed and to represent them by giving them a voice to raise their concerns.
Ahmad Mujahid Mazwar
My role as a BMS (Biomedical Sciences) representative in the Student Association is to handle issues affecting our BMS students in NUMed and to represent them by giving them a voice to raise their concerns.
My role is to specifically represent the clinical years (Stage 3 to Stage 5) students on any relevant issues.
