Support for English
For most students joining us English may not be your first language, and you may be a little nervous about coping with studying in English. Don’t panic.
Early on in your programme your English language skills will be assessed.
The English Language support provided will be in academic writing skills, to help you in your course assignments, and verbal skills, to help you in your communication needs in your course.
There will be opportunities for you to enhance your English Language proficiency in small-group settings or individual appointments.
We are an English-speaking university and one important tip for you is to speak English even when you are not on campus.
Don’t fall into the trap of going back to your native language when you are with your friends. Speak English when you are with them and you will soon find out that you are starting to think in English. This will greatly help you with your studies.
Support for Bahasa Melayu
Of course, some of you may be worried about speaking in Bahasa Melayu (BM), particularly when you are conversing with patients in the clinical facilities.
Again, we provide sessions on BM and you will always be paired with a student who is fluent in BM.
