Meet the current cohort of NUMed Malaysia students on Facebook
Find out what some of our current students think:
“Nowadays, it's common for doctors to be knowledgeable and expert in conducting clinical cases. However NUMed, shaped you to be different from doctors out there as it taught you to be patient-centered with good communication skills, thus you will be loved by your patients and that itself is an effective medicine/cure. Such qualities provided by NUMed makes me proud and honoured to be one of the pioneers of NUMed Malaysia.”
Norul Faqiehah Mohd Noor
“I felt lucky to have the opportunity of being one of the NUMed students. One of the good things are the convenience of the internet are used to the max. It's easy to ask anything . Just send an email and you'll get a quick response. Get use to it computer especially email starting from now.”
Iiman Mahmud Pathi
“Enrolling in the NUMed programme has given me the opportunity to experience the UK medical education nearer to home. The spiral curriculum allows us to enjoy the science of medicine from one stage to another, while at the same time develop greater understanding to the social side of medicine in order to become the new generation of medical professionals.”
Syafiqah Najmi Khalid
“Personally, I find NUMed is not too hectic as I would have expected for a medical degree, though I guess some might disagree with me. Occasional stress is pretty normal especially with approaching deadlines but with good time management, it's no big deal. Plus, the support system designed by the university is always there to help in case we needed any.”
Dayang Akma Abang Alli
“Early exposure to clinical skills for example chest examination and venesection makes the learning process more interesting thus not only limiting it to learning theories during the lectures.”
Erina Natasha
“NUMed program pays attention to your need and hardship of being a medical student therefore it provides an excellent student support system. Other than that, the curriculum does not only base on theories, but also teaches us on communication skills and gave many opportunities to practice it. I find this very useful to help us prepare for the real challenge once we graduated.”
Aisyah Abdul Rahman
“The best part of my learning so far was having an exposure to the community from the very beginning of Stage 1. We had patient contact through GP and hospital visits, which allows us to build our communication skills. The most memorable experience during my first year was the Family Study project; such a great and useful experience! Besides that, the school provides a good combination of lectures, seminars and practical experience, which makes the course become very interesting and enjoyable.”
Siti Nurshafiqah Abdullah
“Life as medical student + great lecturers + Exciting cases associated with every modules + Interesting assignments + a year with the Geordies = A great experience learning medicine in Newcastle University as a first year student. 2nd year? Will be a blast!”
Ahmad Farid Wajdi Abdullah
“I find the case-led approach very helpful indeed. What we are learning are applied directly to relevant cases which provides easier understanding and integration. This, and the spiral staircase curriculum allow reinforcements to what we have already learnt, and at the same time provide the basis of what we are about to learn later.”
Zulhilmi Ibrahim
“Learning medicine in our own country is the best for our career as a doctor (for Malaysians, of course). Nonetheless, managed by one of the most renowned UK university also will bring great qualities, academically and also in practice. You'll get recognition in almost everywhere you go. Combining both this factor is totally superb! (for me, that is).”
Ahmad Zaid Jasmin
“I have joined many activities organised by the various societies in the University and I really enjoyed the open house event held by us, the first cohort of NUMed students. There is a bond that forms between all the students here, despite the differences in religion, background and nationality.”
Siti Aisyah Binti Abdul Rahman
“It is such an honour to be a medical student who will graduate from one of the oldest medical schools in the UK.”
Erina Natasha
“Since enrolling on the MBBS, I have always felt that the programme encourages me to achieve beyond just getting a medical degree. I am being given an all-round education that helps me develop myself in all aspects. I am being prepared to be a good doctor, but more than that, I am taught skills for life.”
