The NUMed Malaysia MB BS provides a firm foundation on which to build a career in the global healthcare sector.
After completing your MB BS degrees, it is anticipated that you will be eligible for provisional registration as a doctor with both the GMC and MMC. In order to apply for full registration with the GMC and/or the MMC, you must undertake an internship as a pre-registration house officer in an approved practice setting.
To gain full GMC registration as a holder of a UK primary medical qualification NUMed graduates would need to complete a programme for provisionally registered doctors and be awarded a Certificate of Experience. At present, the only recognised programme for provisionally registered doctors is the first year of the foundation programme (F1) provided by the postgraduate deaneries of the UK. Applicants from outside the UK and EU should note, that as NUMed graduates, you will potentially not be able to complete the first year of foundation training in the UK leading to full registration, as under prevailing UK immigration rules you may not be able to get a work permit.
If you are a Malaysian national you will be able gain full registration with the MMC by undertaking your pre-registration internship in a house officer post provided by the Malaysian Government in a Government Hospital. In respect of non-Malaysian nationals, then currently the Malaysian Government will consider providing you with a house officer post if the government of your own country so requests.
While the Newcastle MB BS is recognised by many different countries, applicants from outside Malaysia or the European Community are advised to check with their own individual national authorities if they wish to practise in their own country.
Once you have completed successfully your pre-registration training, a period of supervised basic specialty training follows. Whichever career path you choose, all doctors must continue learning throughout their career - our degree programme has been designed with this long-term aim in mind.
