This programme is offered as e-Learning or computer-based learning from Newcastle University, UK. Some face-to-face workshop sessions may be offered at the Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia campus in Nusajaya, Johor.

Programme Outline

The Postgraduate Master of Clinical Research is a part-time learning programme delivered by Newcastle University through a Virtual Learning Environment. The training provides professionals within the healthcare sector (medical clinicians, clinical research nurses, ancillary services and industry including clinical research organisations and clinical research management, with a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in planning, conducting, analysing and writing up clinical research. A 1 year full time option subject to formal approval may be available from October 2013.

The aim of the programme is to enable you to understand, develop, deliver, and disseminate clinical research. In your first year you will study the Certificate course, which consists of 60 credits. You can then opt to progress up to Diploma, which consists of a further 60 credits. In your third year, in order to gain the Masters you must also study the 60 credit Clinical Research Dissertation module. Teaching and assessment are based on pragmatic and real world activities and learning.

Qualification

Successful completion of the entire programme will lead to the award by Newcastle University of the degree Master of Clinical Research (MClinRes), but exit awards for Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate are also available. Entry requirements will be a degree or equivalent professional qualification.

Programme Fees

The fees are approximately £5400 per year and are paid in GBP to Newcastle University.

Career Path

The Newcastle University MClinRes, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate will equip students with an excellent skill set that will provide a sound basis on which to develop a career in clinical research. A good degree from Newcastle University will also bestow a firm foundation upon which to build in order to forge a career in the global healthcare sector.

Applications are welcome throughout the year but the application deadline for commencing each academic year is the end of August; we will consider applicants individually after this date.
