Occupational Health Services

University Occupational Health Services (UOHS), consists of a small team of highly trained specialists dedicated to improving the lifestyle of employees at work, during leisure and in retirement. It aims to:

  • prevent work-related ill health
  • facilitate rehabilitation and return to work following periods of illness or injury
  • promote physical and mental health and well-being at work.

To achieve these aims, Occupational Health works with:

  • the Safety Office -  to identify and control significant and substantial risks to health and safety, and provide competent advice to ensure the University fulfils it's statutory obligations
  • Human Resources -  to support managers and staff in the reduction of avoidable sickness absence, and to consider reasonable work adjustments for staff with a disability/medical condition
  • individual members of staff - to ensure they can access the support they need, to effectively manage or resolve their own health difficulties.
