Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan

A Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) is required to manage the safe egress of individual staff and students who cannot get themselves out of a building unaided in an emergency.

The Emergency Egress Questionnaire (PDF: 19KB) should be completed by those requiring a PEEP in consultation with the School Safety Officer.

The PEEP Form (PDF: 53KB) should be completed by anyone developing a PEEP.

EVAC chairs

EVAC chairs are available to assist people who have difficulty with stairs (not only wheelchair users) in evacuating buildings in case of emergencies. Training in the use of these chairs is available.

LifeLine pagers

Staff, students and visitors to the University who have hearing impairments should carry a LifeLine pager with them whilst on campus. Linked to the fire alarm system, the pager will vibrate, make a loud noise and display a message when a fire alarm is activated. Borrowers should register with the Hardware Loans Scheme.
