MATLAB Policy
For many modules, especially the more theoretical (RHS) ones, extensive
use is made of the Matlab and Simulink packages. The basics are
introduced within the Maths and Matlab module and then developed
further in other modules as appropriate. The packages are used
within the modules both for demonstrations and structured exercises.
Typically the exercises are done during a lab session using networked
PCs in one of the School ’s computing labs. Matlab, together with a number
of its toolboxes, and Simulink are available to IGDS delegates
over the CEAM intranet.
Many of the assignments for these modules are also Matlab and/or
Simulink based. Delegates are expected to do these in their own
time, at home and/or at work. It is not possible to access the School’s packages remotely. Therefore delegates need
to make their own arrangements to access these packages. For many
this is not an issue because the packages are installed on their
companies’ networks or else stand alone PC licences have
been purchased. For others it is recommended that they acquire
a copy of the Student Versions of Matlab and Simulink and install
them on a convenient PC or laptop.
Purchase of student versions can be done over the internet at the
web address below.

Please contact the Director of the IGDS if assistance is required in substantiating
the right to purchase student versions as bona-fide delegates on
the IGDS.
Note that it is delegates’ own responsibility to provide
and/or ensure that they have access to the Matlab and Simulink
packages for doing their assignments.
